In serving you, part of my role is to lead a group of your representatives to ensure your aspirations and immediate needs are supported by enabling Council services.

I am committed to the 4 pillars of Best Governance.

Strategy. A well considered strategic approach that ensures:-

  • sustainable delivery of core council services
  • provision of infrastructure for the continuing growth and development of our district
  • outcome driven Annual and Long Term plans that meet the expectations of our ratepayers and those that wish to invest in the future of our district
  • a District Plan that enables sensible and swift development.

Performance Monitoring. Ensuring Management deliver on planned outcomes in our various plans and at all times strive to provide excellence in service and process delivery.

Risk & Compliance. Ensuring we mitigate risk and are compliant with the laws of New Zealand

Culture. A top down approach to a strong, respectful, collaborative and collegial culture at the Council table and an equally strong culture within the Council organisation that is focused on excellence and customer satisfaction.

As your Mayor I will ensure elected members are given the opportunity to voice the needs and aspirations of ratepayers and investors. I will encourage collegial conduct and the competition of ideas. I will ensure decisions are aligned to our Vision, Mission, Values and planned strategic outcomes. I will ensure Council always has clarity and adherence to the Governance and Management functions. The Mayor and Councillors set the direction and sign off on plans. Management get on with the delivery of those plans. Governance monitors progress and ensures Management meets expectations.
